Subject: Hristova Named Pac-12 Player of the Week

PULLMAN, Wash. - For the first time in her career, super sophomore Borislava Hristova was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday morning.

The award for the week of Jan. 1-7 was the first weekly award for the Cougs in 2017-18 and first since Chanelle Molina was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Jan. 6 of last year. The last Coug to take home conference player of the week honors was Tia Presley on Dec. 15, 2014.

Hristova, a three-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honoree two years ago, earned the conference's top honor with a weekend for the ages against Colorado and Utah as the Pac-12's leading scorer netted 65 points, the second-best scoring weekend in WSU history.

Coming back from injury that kept her out of the opening weekend of Pac-12 play, Hristova came out firing against Colorado as she netted 36 points in the Cougs win over Colorado. Her 36 points were the most points scored by any Pac-12 player this season while ranking tied for third all-time in program history. Even more impressively, Hristova did her damage from all over the floor as she tied the Cougs' program record for made field goals wth 15 on just 21 shots. In addition, Hristova hit a career-best four three-pointers to lead the Cougs to the win.

Following up her epic night Friday, Hristova was just as good Sunday against Utah as she scored 29 points on 14-of-23 shooting. Getting more than just herself into the game, the Cougar wing dished out four assists and grabbed five rebounds, her second-straight game with five rebounds.

For the weekend, Hristova averaged an impressive 32.5 points per game on 65.9% jump-shooting. She added 5.0 rebounds per game to go with 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. On the season, Hristova leads all Pac-12 scorers at 19.1 points per game while shooting 48.9% from the floor.
The Cougs and Hristova hit the road for California where they will take on No. 24 Stanford and No. 25 Cal in Pac-12 play over the weekend.
