Colleagues and friends of the
Smiths,
Given the COVID 19 outbreak, upon
advice of local and state authorities, as well as the university advisory
group’s advice regarding vulnerable populations and large gatherings of people;
we have made the difficult decision to cancel next week’s event on March 11th.
While we very much all wished to give the Smiths a send-off fitting of their
indelible legacy post-retirement in the past 20 years in Seattle, we do not
want to put anyone’s health at risk.
We thank you for the outpouring of
support for the Smiths.
If you would like to send any
additional photos, recounts of memories, or wishes to the Smiths, please send
them to msingbeil@wsu.edu or via mail to 901 5th
Avenue, suite 2900, Seattle, WA 98164. Margaret will still be compiling the
ones we have received in order to present them to the Smiths in a different
format.
Sincerely, The Office of the
President Emeritus Sam Smith
